About

My name is David Fisch. Born in 1966, I’m a father to 8 children and live in Pedu’el, Israel.

By profession, I am physicist and an engineer in a high-tech company. Painting, however, is the work of my soul. A passion since childhood, my paintings seek to marry the physical with the spiritual.

The subjects of my painting are the Land of Israel with its magical scenery…its nature, its cities, its people.

I draw inspiration from the incredible beauty found in every corner. You need only adjust the focus of your eyes and soul, and you will instantly perceive it.

It might be…the nearby landscapes, the mountains and rivers of Samaria, that I admire anew each day on my daily travels…the lush waterfalls of the north or the desert oases of the south…a nighttime visit to Old Jerusalem or a family excursion into the splendor of nature…the urban bustle of lively Tel Aviv or a colorful sunset from my backyard. An impressive cliff. A delicate flower.

The historical trails of the Land, and the Land itself, tell the stories of the Jewish people for thousands of years. In these trails, our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob walked. The Jordan River, crossed by the Israelites on their return from Egypt, the Judean hills where King David dwelled, Mt. Carmel where the prophet Elijah prophesied, the sages of the Mishna and religious pilgrims in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem, the captives exiled seaward to Rome…and my parents, who returned by ship to our land from the European exile. Soldiers of the IDF who, during wars, pioneered new ways to protect the young state. Settlers who built houses, cultivated fields, made the wilderness blossom, and returned the land to its glory from days of old.

In the course of my painting, I view nature from a novel, unusual, curious and inquisitive perspective, and my exploration makes me see things not usually noticed:

A simple wildflower contains the entire world and its fullness…its petals reflect breathtaking colors.

The skies are composed of many colors, not just blue and white.

Sun rays paint surprising shapes on clouds.

A simple stone wall reveals an endless variety of shades, tones, and games of light and shadow.

The beach contains innumerable pieces of beauty… seashells and their fragments, splashes of water that fly and create wild foamy forms.

Wind flows through a field of grain likes waves on the surface of water.

And everything is so beautiful, dynamic, changing, and reinventing.

All this I paint, for me.

Yet I have learned that when something is true and comes from my heart, it is welcomed into, and dwells within, the heart of another.
